Hi Marc, That workspace folder contains a lot of “gotchas.” We were engineering a package for an upgrade to 8.5.1 client and wanted to delete the workspace folder as part of the upgrade to ensure that users start “clean” with no legacy craziness to mess them up. What we found is that deleting workspace also deletes (in addition to their widget settings) the Sametime preferences they’ve set, which was disrupting to users. There’s a lot of preference info stuffed in there. Gotta be careful!

For anyone who my stumble across this thread in the future I just had this same problem with my own Notes 8.5 mailbox. After a few hours of replacing files in the Workspace folder with with default file versions I determined that the specific file which controls this is: C:\lotus\notes\data\workspace\.metadata\.plugins.older\com.ibm.rcp.personality.framework\personalityWindowState\com.ibm.rcp.platform.personality.config.xml All I had to do after that was reset some of my screen positioning in the mail file, but I didn’t lose any important setting as far as I can tell. Hope this helps someone.

Hi Chris, Thanks for the super nice tip about the exact location of the file that controls the behavior of the mini-view! I really might help someone else out there! Marc

I’ve did this and it worked at first but after rebooting the pc and starting lotus notes again the miniview wasn’t there.
