You know the great thing about Notes 8.x being in eclipse, we don’t have to wait for Lotus to put it in … developers could write a plug in for it … publish it in OpenNTF under apache license, and its done … and who knows, maybe will get included in the base product that way too…

You can use the character map to select and copy characters to the clipboard and then paste them into the document.

As a workaround, I will teach the user that he can select the Wingding Font in Notes and then use the ASCII code to type the Arrow… If he doesn’t know the ACSII Code, MS Word can help as it is written at the bottom of the Add Symbol windows where he is already used to go. That way, He can do all the symbols he wish… and after a few time he will know the Ascii Code he use most by Heart.

You could do this just for fun, make a new tool bar button called right arrow, and one called left arrow. Give them a formula of @Command([EditInsertText]; “—–>”) The user will either laugh or slap you.

Add an arrow image to the mail template location where other images are then click on while in an email, Create-image resource and the list should include the arrow.

As to the Math equations, I am thinking if one used symphony embedded this could be done perhaps? Also if you do create – insert resource you can pick any graphic resource from any notes db, thus the old nsf of icon graphics and similar ideas.

Hi everybody, Thanks for the comments … and even the funny suggestions As far as modifying the mail template to include the arrows … it’s an idea. Ditto for the tool bar button (yes, I would probably be slapped). In the end, I tell my users to use the Character Map (like you suggested Wayne) and if I see that it’s still a wee bit too complex for the user, I tell him to copy-paste from MS Word. Marc

It doesn’t do Wingdings, but you can try the Character Map sidebar app here: http://templates.snapps.com/widgets/SidebarApps.nsf

Hi Julian, Yes, I saw that on PlanetLotus.org the other day and I was pleasantly surprised by the timing! I’m about to deploy the Widget Catalog in my company … I’ll sure give you Character Map sidebar app a try and I’ll let you know the reactions from my end users. ETA for the Widget Catalog deployment in my company is sometimes within the next 2 weeks. Regards, Marc
